Julio Jones reported to Atlanta Falcons training camp despite his desire for a new contract, but told reporters on Tuesday that he won't suit up during the preseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jones is seeking an extension on his current deal, which runs until 2020, that would make him the NFL's highest-paid receiver. He and Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff previously expressed confidence that an agreement will be reached prior to the regular season.

The 30-year-old Jones also refuted speculation that he's waiting for fellow star receivers Michael Thomas and Amari Cooper to sign new contracts before finalizing his own, claiming "we're not in the same boat," according to AJC's D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Jones led the NFL with 1,677 receiving yards last season.
