The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent safety Johnathan Cyprien to a one-year contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Cyprien spent the previous two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He tore his ACL last August and missed the entire 2018 campaign.

The 29-year-old is most comfortable in run support playing close to the line of scrimmage. He accumulated 57 tackles and one sack in 2017.

Cyprien was a second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013 and spent his first four years with the club, starting in all but four games.

The veteran defender adds depth to the Eagles' secondary behind Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod, who's 2018 season was cut short due to a knee injury.

Cyprien will compete for snaps with Andrew Sendejo, Blake Countess, and Tre Sullivan in training camp.
