The New York Jets signed kicker Taylor Bertolet on Saturday and announced Chandler Catanzaro is retiring.

Catanzaro, 28, signed with the Jets this offseason after splitting last year with the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was best known for his three-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals from 2014-16; he and Stephen Hauschka both missed chip shots in overtime of a memorable 6-6 tie with the Seattle Seahawks.

Catanzaro made his only field-goal attempt in the Jets' preseason opener but missed two extra points. The Jets then worked out Bertolet, Blair Walsh, and Chris Blewitt.

Bertolet has spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Jets since 2016 but has never appeared in a regular-season game. He played for the AAF's Salt Lake Stallions earlier in 2019.

The Jets lost Pro Bowl kicker Jason Myers to the Seahawks in free agency this offseason.
