I had so many storylines roughed out for Hazel interacting with this family, but not a damned one of them ever made it into the strip. As proven by the abrupt scene change in the next strip (and strips) having absolutely nothing to do with this moment in time. It just got dropped.

Sometime you've gotta follow your gut and cut an idea, even after you've already published it on your website and you know it's gonna look like you planned the story poorly (because you did).
