Aug. 19, 1942: 200 Hamiltonians killed in Dieppe raid

A total of 582 members of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry took part in the infamous botched assault of the French coastal city of Dieppe that was heavily fortified by the Germans. In the end, 200 Hamiltonians (197 from the RHLI) died, and nearly 300 were wounded or taken prisoner.
