Colts HC: Luck not yet cleared to practice
Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich announced Tuesday that ailing quarterback Andrew Luck will not practice this week as the team prepares for its third preseason game, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
Reich stated the issue remains a matter of "full speed movement versus pain threshold."
Though the club's brass reportedly holds "guarded optimism" that the passer will be ready for Week 1, Reich previously stated he wanted to name Indianapolis' opening-day starter by the end of its third preseason contest.
Luck hasn't participated in any full practices since the beginning of training camp. He's dealt with a lingering calf issue for several months, and the Colts revealed during camp that he's also experiencing pain in his ankle.
Indianapolis opens its season Sept. 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jacoby Brissett will start the game under center if Luck isn't cleared to play.
