New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa will miss the rest of the season after suffering a neck injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills, head coach Adam Gase announced Wednesday.

Enunwa missed the 2017 campaign after suffering the same injury in training camp. It's unclear if the wideout's career is in jeopardy, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.

In 2018, the 27-year-old bounced back from his lost season to rack up 38 catches, 449 yards, and one touchdown during 11 appearances. New York rewarded him with a four-year contract extension in December.

The Jets reportedly acquired receiver Demaryius Thomas from the New England Patriots on Tuesday, a move that makes more sense in the wake of Enunwa's absence.

Thomas will act as the No. 3 behind starters Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder, though the receiver is still working back to full health after tearing his Achilles at the end of 2018.
