Helmet manufacturer Xenith drops Antonio Brown
Football equipment manufacturer Xenith has announced that it's severing ties with New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"We look forward to seeing the Xenith Shadow worn by football athletes at all levels of play this fall," the company said, according to Schefter.
Brown was accused of raping his former trainer in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday.
The 31-year-old receiver signed an endorsement deal with Xenith - which supplies helmets for Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb and Buffalo Bills journeyman Frank Gore - last week.
Brown filed two separate grievances against the NFL while a member of the Oakland Raiders after the league banned his preferred Schutt AiR Advantage lid. He then sought to partner with a helmet manufacturer that would create a custom model for him after losing the second grievance.
However, Brown hasn't worn the custom model Xenith created for him since joining the Patriots.
Brown's status for New England's Week 2 matchup with the Miami Dolphins is still uncertain.
