Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is considered day-to-day after suffering a knee injury Sunday, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Conner managed 14 touches for 45 scrimmage yards and a touchdown before leaving the Steelers' eventual 28-26 loss to the Seattle Seahawks early with the knee issue.

The Pitt alum said on his radio show Monday that his knee has no tears or significant issues, according to 93.7 The Fan's Jeff Hathhorn, and Conner added that he was confident he'd play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Conner burst onto the scene last season during Le'Veon Bell's holdout and produced a Pro Bowl 2018 campaign in which he put up 1,470 yards from scrimmage to go along with 13 trips to paydirt.

The hometown kid has not been able to find the same success in 2019, managing just 54 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries through two weeks. Nonetheless, Conner's reported prognosis is a huge positive on the same day the Steelers announced franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will undergo season-ending surgery.
