New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton indicated Wednesday that his team will not have a firm No. 1 quarterback for Week 3's contest against the Seattle Seahawks.

"We'll approach this game with two QBs," Payton said, according to the Times-Picayune's Rod Walker. "We'll have the right plan relative to what those guys are going to be doing."

Most observers had expected New Orleans to go with Teddy Bridgewater as the primary quarterback against Seattle, but Payton suggested Taysom Hill may also get his fair share of plays under center.

"You're assuming he's the No. 2," Payton replied when asked if Hill's other roles would be limited now that he's the backup quarterback, according to Walker.

The QB questions come after future Hall of Famer Drew Brees went down in Week 2 with a thumb injury that required surgery and is expected to sideline him for around six weeks.

During last week's 27-9 loss to the Rams, it was Bridgewater, the more conventional of New Orleans' two remaining pivots, who came in to relieve Brees. He went 17 of 30 for 165 yards through the air.

Hill only received two carries for 8 yards during the Week 2 contest. The third-year man is a jack-of-all-trades who can be found returning kicks, covering kicks, throwing, catching, and running the ball.

"He's going to be, I think, an outstanding NFL quarterback," Payton said of Hill in January before the NFC Championship Game, according to 247 Sports. "Last week, he threw a ball to (Alvin) Kamara that was perfect."

The head coach also compared Hill to Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young in August.
