New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard cleared the concussion protocol Thursday and is expected to play in Week 3, according to Newsday's Tom Rock.
Shepard missed the Giants' Week 2 loss with the injury. He practiced in a non-contact jersey Wednesday.
The news comes at an opportune time for New York, as rookie quarterback Daniel Jones will make his first career NFL start Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With Golden Tate set to serve the two remaining games of his PED suspension, Shepard will be relied upon as Jones' top target against the Buccaneers.
