Report: Tyron Smith avoids serious ankle sprain, won't play vs. Packers
Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith's high ankle sprain isn't as severe as the initial evaluation suggested, a source told ESPN's Todd Archer.
Smith won't play in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, but he has not yet been ruled out of Week 6, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
High ankle sprains typically require a four-to-six week absence, added Rapoport.
Cameron Fleming will likely replace Smith in Dallas' starting lineup.
The 28-year-old Smith was hurt when Dak Prescott fell onto his leg while attempting to avoid a sack in Sunday night's loss to the New Orleans Saints.
The six-time Pro Bowler is the linchpin of Dallas' talented offensive line. He has missed time due to injury in each of the last three seasons.
