Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol after Sunday's game against the New York Giants, The Athletic's Ben Standig reports.

The Redskins' tight end group has been beset by concussions as Jordan Reed has yet to play a game this season after picking up his seventh reported concussion during the preseason.

Davis, a 14-year veteran, has played in all four of Washington's games this year, hauling in 10 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.

The Redskins are perilously thin at the receiving position, as star rookie Terry McLaurin missed Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.
