Saquon Barkley was apparently serious about his intention to beat his recovery timetable.

The New York Giants' star running back was back at practice just 10 days after suffering a high ankle sprain in the team's Week 3 game. Barkley had reportedly been given a four-to-eight week recovery timeline along with the diagnosis.

Despite the lengthy timeline, the running back was apparently confident that he'd be back ahead of schedule.

On Wednesday, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year had already shed his walking boot and appeared to be moving well on the field while making cuts.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur hasn't ruled out his All-Pro back for the team's Week 5 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.

Shurmur said he agrees with Barkley that the recovery process will be quicker than reported.

"Some doctors had him at eight weeks," Shurmur said, according to Vacchiano. "Not my doctors."

Wayne Gallman has stepped in during Barkley's absence from the Giants' backfield, putting up 131 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns in one-plus games of work.
