Despite reports that Saquon Barkley would miss four-to-eight weeks with a high ankle sprain, New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur refused to rule out the star running back for Sunday's matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

Shurmur told reporters Thursday that the Giants will bring Barkley along "as quickly and as smartly as possible," and a return in Week 5 isn't out of the question, according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan.

The second-year rusher was once again spotted at practice just 10 days after injuring his ankle. He shed his walking boot Wednesday and was seen cutting and running on the field.

Shortly after suffering the injury, Barkley expressed confidence that he'd be cleared to return ahead of schedule.
