Dallas Stars defenseman Roman Polak has a small fracture in his sternum after crashing headfirst into the boards during Thursday's contest against the Boston Bruins, the team announced Friday.

The 33-year-old will be evaluated in one week.

The incident occurred in the second period, and Polak needed to be stretchered off the ice.
