Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid downplayed the ankle injury suffered by Patrick Mahomes during his team's shock defeat to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night.

"Tweaked it just a little bit. I think he's going to be OK," Reid said afterward, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher. "He was pretty good at the end there. We'll see how that goes."

Mahomes, who was dealing with an ankle issue coming into the contest, hurt it during the first half and then started the second with it heavily taped. In the fourth quarter, the ankle was stepped on by one of Kansas City's offensive linemen.

"Just reaggravated it a little bit there in the first half and then got stepped on in the second half," Mahomes said. "Obviously, it's going to be a little sore tomorrow."

Mahomes added that he'll receive treatment ahead of the Chiefs' Week 6 contest versus the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

The star pivot didn't miss a single play against Indianapolis, but he appeared more limited than usual when moving outside the pocket.

Overall, the reigning NFL MVP went 22 of 39 for 321 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 19-13 defeat.
