What is your favorite http server?
by lucmove from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4S25G)
I searched that on Google with an additional parameter to search linuxquestions.org and found many occurrences of "what is the best distro for a web server," but nothing about the best http server itself.
What is your favorite http server and why?
Context: I want to revive my old personal web site. It was kind of a blog for texts, pictures and a humble comment section. I have to read code and remember a lot of stuff. It's going to be a Summer project. Meanwhile, I need an http server.
Apache is the one I know. I have old configuration files I can use and remember the old times. It's the faster way for me.
But I'm open to new options. I'm starting almost from scratch anyway.
I remember I tried Hiawatha 10 years ago, no less. I remember I liked it, but also didn't like it. I don't remember why.
I remember I tried lighttpd some 7 to 8 years ago. I don't remember if I liked it.
I never tried Nginx amongst others.
What about you? What is your favorite http server and why?
