Broncos' Bausby: 'I was paralyzed for 30 minutes' after scary hit

Denver Broncos cornerback De'Vante Bausby needed to be carted off Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers after taking an unintentional helmet-to-helmet hit from his own teammate.

Bausby admitted to reporters Tuesday the hit and resulting injury left him temporarily immobile.

"I was never unconscious, I just couldn't move, but I was still talking and everything," the 26-year-old said, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "The doc, the neurologist said I was going to be fine and I just trusted that, and after about 30 minutes I was able to wiggle my toes and after a couple hours I was able to regain full mobility so I was straight, I was fine ...

"They said I was paralyzed for 30 minutes; after 30 minutes I could wiggle my toes and after two hours I could move everything else."

Bausby was released from hospital Sunday evening, but it was determined he suffered a cervical sprain and the team has already ruled the three-year pro will miss time. The Broncos aren't sure how long they'll be without Bausby, but they're not about to rush him back.

"Don't know if he'll miss the rest of the season or not. (With) these (injuries), the first few days and week will tell the story," head coach Vic Fangio said.
