Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey suggested Wednesday that he's attempted to engage the Washington Redskins in trade talks about Trent Williams, but he hasn't made much headway.

The Pro Bowl left tackle has been holding out since the summer after taking issue with how Washington handled a situation involving his health. Team president Bruce Allen has stated publicly that he has no plans to move Williams, even though draft picks could help the club accelerate a rebuild.

"We've had a few conversations," Dorsey said of Allen, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "It takes two to tango."

The Browns have struggled early in the season at left tackle, where Dorsey said incumbent starter Greg Robinson needs "to be more consistent."

Dorsey noted that he's trying vigorously to upgrade the Browns' offensive line ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

"It's a hard position to acquire, especially at this time of year," he said. "We'll make a million phone calls. We'll constantly work the phones. If nothing happens, we'll move onto the next project. If we think we can improve the position, we'll make a move if it's right for this organization."

The Browns have dropped four of their first six games in 2019 on the heels of a fruitful offseason.
