devuan: proper way to stop changing the font at boot time

Recent Devuan install. At boot time, console font keeps changing to this sketchy hard to read font. Googled. Checked man pages. No ideas. Even read a README file in the rc2.d directory. Nope: fail.

Finally I just deleted the setfont program. That worked but at the next update of the package that setfont is part of, it will be undone.

What is the proper way to disable console font change at boot-time?
