The Atlanta Falcons have put defensive end Vic Beasley Jr. on the trade block, according to ESPN's Jordan Schultz.

Atlanta picked up Beasley's fifth-year option in April, but he has apparently not met expectations and the team believes a change of scenery will help him, added Schultz.

The Falcons selected Beasley eighth overall in 2015, and the Clemson product put up a league-leading 15.5 sacks the following season, earning himself All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. However, Beasley has been unable to recapture that form, as he's recorded just 11.5 sacks in 36 games since that breakout year.

Beasley is owed $12.8 million for the 2019 campaign, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent. The fifth-year pro has put up 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one batted ball through six weeks this season.

There has been no indication that Beasley's place on the trading block will affect his availability for the Falcons' Week 7 contest with the Los Angeles Rams.
