Ridiculous loadspeaker icon on screen making trouble
by kaper from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4SVKN)
What is this (attached image)? A loadspeaker icon appearing/jumping up on the main screen after I upgraded to Buster a couple of weeks ago. After struggling with this icon for more than a week, I gave up and reinstalled Buster, and most of the programs I want, and all seemed ok. The icon did not appear on the whole day, and I was happy. But the next, after a cold start it jumped up again. Well, it is not there all the time, it jumps in in a intermittent matter in and out all the time. The green bar below the loadspeaker symbol moves back and forth, just as if it monitored some sound, but nothing comes from the (real) loadspeakers. It places itself on top of everything else, and I cannot move it with the mouse or anything.
After the reinstall, at first real sound came from the loadspeakers, but, as I said, now they are mute. When the icon is there it also slows down my writing on the keyboard.
I am running a laptop, Hewlett-Packard HP Pavillion dv4-1199eo, not quit new but good, and it has worked well during all years until now.
I am getting crazy of this, and I do not know what to do. Could it be a virus or what? I have tried to identify it as a process by means of htop, but no success so far.
Help!! /Kaj
