Patrick Mahomes could return from his dislocated kneecap within three weeks, though the Kansas City Chiefs plan to exercise extreme caution with their franchise quarterback, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

A three-week timeline would see Mahomes back for Monday Night Football on Nov. 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City, where field conditions have raised concerns in past years.

Mahomes was injured Thursday night versus the Denver Broncos on a quarterback sneak. He initially received a four-to-six week prognosis, according to Dave Skretta of The Associated Press.

The MRI on Mahomes' knee came back as a "best-case scenario," one source told Schefter. Mahomes, meanwhile, feels "good" and believes he's "week-to-week," reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

In seven games this season, including the one he exited, Mahomes has thrown for 2,180 yards with 15 touchdowns and one interception.
