Before they were outbid by the Los Angeles Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles offered the Jacksonville Jaguars a first- and second-round pick for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Super Bowl LII champions were confident about landing Ramsey for a period of time, Schefter adds.

It was also reported that Jaguars owner Shad Khan was against trading Ramsey until he missed the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints. Although three doctors cleared him to play, the third-year cornerback was sidelined for the contest. Khan reportedly gave the green light to his football operations team to strike a deal shortly after.

Ramsey, a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, played in the first three games of the season before demanding a trade after an altercation with team management. He hasn't played since due to a back injury.

Without Ramsey, the Eagles, who have allowed more than 280 passing yards per game this season, will try to solve their secondary problems with their current roster.

Philadelphia is expected to have both Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby back for its Week 7 Sunday Night Football matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise is 13-5 when the cornerback duo starts.
