How do I disable the close window portion of my trackpad?

I'm not sure if this is a feature or bug but either way, I find myself accidentally clicking on this dime-sized area on the bottom of the track pad about 1 inch from the left of the pad, where if I click on it it closes whatever tab I clicked on. I am running an HP Pavilion running Ubuntu Mate.
