Eagles' Cox grabbed shotgun to foil recent break-in attempt
Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox sprung into action last week when a man attempted to break into his New Jersey residence, according to a complaint obtained by ESPN's Tim McManus.
The suspect is said to have caused more than $2,000 in damages before getting spooked and fleeing the scene after Cox grabbed a shotgun.
The man was reportedly seen on surveillance cameras brandishing a baseball bat. He's also said to have thrown rocks through the windows of a vehicle on the property before attempting to enter the residence multiple times.
The man was identified in the complaint as an ex-boyfriend of a woman who was staying with Cox. The suspect was later apprehended by local authorities.
Cox was absent from practice with an illness on the same date as the alleged incident, though head coach Doug Pederson said the two events were unrelated.
"The police are handling it," Pederson said. "It's a personal issue, so I'm out of it."
