The Cleveland Browns could push to acquire Nate Solder from the New York Giants if their efforts to land Trent Williams from the Washington Redskins go unrewarded, reports Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson.

The Browns have reportedly been focused for several weeks on upgrading from Greg Robinson at left tackle. They've been heavily linked to Williams, a season-long holdout, but general manager John Dorsey hinted last week that the Redskins were unwilling to move the Pro Bowl left tackle.

Solder hasn't lived up to expectations since signing a four-year, $62-million contract with the Giants in 2018, though he'd still likely represent an improvement over Robinson.

Dorsey and Giants general manager Dave Gettleman are known to have a strong working relationship, which could make a deal more feasible by the Oct. 29 trade deadline. Gettleman traded Odell Beckham Jr. to Dorsey's Browns in the offseason.

Solder, 31, played seven seasons and won a pair of Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before joining the Giants via free agency.
