Debian or Zorin for Privacy/Security?
by Dr.Zontag from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4T482)
Hello,
I just bought my first Linux computer a Star Labs Labtop and it comes preinstalled with Zorin 15.
I am switching to Linux to hopefully better protect my privacy from companies like Apple, Google, and Msft. (Is this a bad reason to use Linux?)
I recall reading that Ubuntu collects user data if certain settings are not switched off and I also recall that they had spyware and keylogging issues. Since Zorin is based on Ubuntu which is based on Debian (correct me if I am wrong), will Zorin have similar privacy and security issues as Ubuntu?
Is Debian better for privacy and security than Zorin? Zorin is appealing because it seems like a better starter distro than Debian? The other option I was looking at is Fedora.
Thank you!
