New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon expects to be ready to play in one-to-two weeks, sources told ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Gordon was placed on injured reserve Wednesday due to a knee injury. New England has to release the pass-catcher once he's cleared after it used the minor designation for his IR placement.

If the Patriots part ways with Gordon after Tuesday's trade deadline, the 28-year-old will be subject to waivers.

Gordon aggravated his knee injury during a Week 6 win over the New York Giants. He then missed the team's last contest against the New York Jets.

In six games this season, Gordon has caught 20 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown.

Gordon returned to the Patriots in August after the NFL reinstated him from the third indefinite suspension of his career. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
