recoll: query history doesn´t seem to work

Hi altogether,
My system is Linux/Lubuntu 18.04.3.LTS, 64 bit.
Ive been using recoll (desktop full-text search tool) for quite a while now.
Ive updated to version 1.26.1 just now and noticed that clicking on "Show query history" doesnt yield any results.
What could be the matter here? It used to work just fine.
The ~/.recoll/saved_queries folder is empty. So no query history is stored in the first place.
