The New York Jets traded defensive end Leonard Williams to the New York Giants for a third-round pick in 2020 and a fifth-rounder in 2021, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The fifth-round selection will evolve into a fourth-round pick if Williams inks an extension with the Giants before the start of the league year in March, Schefter reports.

Williams was previously rumored to be on the trade block, with the Jets seemingly uninterested in bringing the up-and-down lineman back at the end of his expiring contract.

Williams was drafted sixth overall in 2015 out of USC. He had seven sacks in 2016 but equaled that total over the next two years combined. He had no sacks in seven outings with the Jets this season while his production in the running game also declined.

Though the Giants have slipped out of the NFC playoff race, they could see Williams as a long-term fit. The defensive line has been a major concern for the G-Men since they traded the likes of Damon Harrison Sr. last year and Olivier Vernon in the offseason.

The Jets are believed to be in sell mode following their 1-6 start, and they could also jettison standout receiver Robby Anderson before the Tuesday trade deadline.

Leonard, who's still only 25 years old, will get to face the Jets as a member of the Giants on Nov. 10.
