Report: Patriots interested in Bengals' Eifert

The New England Patriots are among several teams showing the most interest in Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, a source told The Athletic's Jeff Howe.
However, it remains to be seen if the Bengals will lower their reportedly high price tag for Eifert in order to make a deal possible, Howe added.
Eifert has put up 192 yards and a score on 23 grabs this season.
For his career, the 29-year-old has caught 22 touchdowns in 51 games - including a career-high 13 in his Pro Bowl 2015 campaign - but he hasn't appeared in more than eight contests in any subsequent season due to injuries.
New England has been looking for a reliable tight end since Rob Gronkowski's retirement after last season. Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo combined to catch nine passes and a touchdown through six games this year before being sidelined with injuries. New England also re-signed 38-year-old Ben Watson earlier in October, but the veteran produced just four total receptions across the last two weeks.
The Patriots have also been tied to young Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard, although Tampa Bay is reportedly only willing to consider a substantial offer.
