Partitioning and windows
by the red poppet from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4TD65)
I hope that I have this in the correct area.
I have a Dell E6320 little laptop that is currently dual boot windows ( which I want for its VM Ware capability) and Kodachi (a security based debian distro). What I want to do is keep windows and install the new Linux Mint along side it. Running Mint live only gives me an option of installing alongside Kodachi which I assume would scrub windows.
Am I able to use G-parted and identify the Kodachi partition, delete it, reformat as EXT-4 and then run the Mint live disc and install Mint where Kodachi used to be? Or would that bugger up the windows install in some way? If worse came to worse I could re-do it all again but I don't really want to do that if avoidable.
Or if my approach is way off the mark, Could somebody suggest another option? I do know that when going through the install procedure with Mint before I stopped, I could see the Kodachi partition and the option to reformat it at that point, but I got very afraid and retreated to Linux Questions!
Any help is greatly appreciated.
