Can I always be updating packages without upgrading the kernel?

My question is: can I always be updating packages without upgrading the kernel? For example, I want to update all Slackware 14.1 packages (available at ftp.Slackware.com in the SLackware 14.1 patches/packages repository) keeping kernel version 3.10.17 (newer at this time is kernel 3.10.107)

Does slackpkg warn me if a package is not kernel compatible?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=9wHTzIbqHGI:vjB1JkUuzV4:F7zBnMy latest?i=9wHTzIbqHGI:vjB1JkUuzV4:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=9wHTzIbqHGI:vjB1JkUuzV4:gIN9vFw9wHTzIbqHGI
