Mahomes won't play vs. Vikings
The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Patrick Mahomes once again Sunday.
Mahomes was officially listed as inactive for the contest against the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced. The star pivot was a limited participant in practice this week, but he still hasn't fully recovered from a dislocated kneecap he suffered Oct. 17.
Mahomes was initially expected to miss at least three weeks with the injury.
Doctors believe Mahomes had a 40% chance of re-dislocating his kneecap if he played after fewer than 21 days from the injury, but those chances drop to 10-to-15% after three weeks, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports. Mahomes suffered the injury on Oct. 17. The Chiefs' next game in Week 10 falls outside the three-week window.
Matt Moore will make his second straight start at quarterback.
Moore performed well during last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers, throwing for 267 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL start in more than two years.
The Chiefs enter Week 9 sitting atop the AFC West with a 5-3 record.
