Russell Wilson pushed the Seattle Seahawks to sign Antonio Brown before the team claimed another receiver, Josh Gordon, off waivers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Brown has been a free agent since Sept. 20, when the New England Patriots released him. The 31-year-old is being sued by his former personal trainer, who accused him of raping her. Brown also sent intimidating text messages to another woman after she accused him of sexual misconduct.

The NFL launched an investigation into the claims several weeks ago but has yet to interview Brown, whose agent said there are "a few teams that are very interested in signing Antonio once this process is over."

Seattle claimed Gordon from the Patriots on Friday, adding him to a receiving corps that features Tyler Lockett and rookie DK Metcalf in starting roles. Gordon posted 20 receptions for 287 yards and one touchdown over six games with New England.

The Seahawks were reported to be one of the teams that showed interest in Brown in early September once he was cut by the Oakland Raiders, but he wound up joining New England.

Brown has reportedly filed grievances against both the Raiders and Patriots, looking to recoup nearly $40 million in voided money that was guaranteed on his contracts.

Wilson, meanwhile, is enjoying an MVP-caliber season, leading the league with 17 touchdown passes through Week 8.
