The Miami Dolphins got their first win of the season after they took down the division-rival New York Jets 26-18 on Sunday. The victory also doubled as the first of Brian Flores' young head coaching career.

"A lot about coaching is building relationships and having fun out there, so those moments mean a lot more. I wasn't expecting any kind of bath," Flores said, according to ESPN's Cameron Wolfe. "It was a fun moment for them, fun moment for me. It was something I'll never forget."

Flores said he first thought of his mother - who passed away in March after a battle with cancer - following the final whistle. He dedicated his first NFL triumph to her memory.

"She's been my good luck charm for a long time. This is the first season of football I've had without her," Flores said. "She's the person that came to mind. This one is for her. It was a lot of fun. It was a great moment."

Miami's first win of the season was also special for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

"I had a lot of pressure on me today because my two boys were here, and when we win I bring my boys in the locker room. I was tired of the puppy dog eyes when I was walking off the field ... So we were going to get them in the dang locker room today," Fitzpatrick said.

The Dolphins now sit at 1-7 on the season. The 0-8 Cincinnati Bengals are the last remaining winless team of the campaign.

With the victory, Miami's odds at landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft dropped to 37.4%, according to ESPN's FPI.
