Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone announced on Tuesday that Nick Foles will return to his role as the team's starting quarterback following a Week 10 bye.

Foles broke his collarbone in the season opener and has been cleared to return following an eight-game absence. Rookie Gardner Minshew was starting in place of the veteran.

The former Super Bowl MVP will be activated from the injured reserve in time for Jacksonville's Week 11 tilt against the Indianapolis Colts.

After taking over for Foles, Minshew quickly endeared himself to football fans with his quirky wardrobe choices and on-field improvisation while leading the Jaguars to a surprising 4-4 record as a starter.

However, the sixth-round rookie struggled in his most recent game, turning the ball over four times during Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans.

"He's done a great job," Marrone said of Minshew, according to MMQB's Albert Breer. "I feel a whole lot different about him now than I did prior to him playing, in a positive way."

"We had some discussions on things that we're going to work on going forward which will give him the ability to be a player in this league for a long time," he added, according to John Reid of The Florida Times-Union.

Foles signed a four-year, $88-million contract with Jacksonville in free agency following his second stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was expected to become the final piece of a talented roster, but Minshew's play put the Pro Bowler's depth-chart position in question.

The Jaguars sit two games behind the Texans in the AFC South with seven contests remaining.
