Green still not 100%: 'Probably not' making debut this week

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green experienced swelling around his injured ankle Thursday and is unlikely to make his season debut this week, he told Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

"Probably not," Green said when asked if would play against the Baltimore Ravens.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor expressed optimism about Green's status earlier in the week, but the wideout didn't feel right during Wednesday's walkthrough and sat out practice.

"I can't go out there when I'm not 100%," said Green, according to Jay Morrison of The Athletic. "It makes no sense for me to put myself in that situation to where I can have another time hurting (it), just like I did my toe. It's all about making sure I'm taking care of myself first. Everything else comes after that."

Green has missed the first eight games of the Bengals' season. Cincinnati is the only NFL team still without a win this year.

The 31-year-old underwent surgery in July for an ankle injury he suffered on the opening day of training camp.

Green was sidelined for seven contests last season due to the aforementioned toe injury. He racked up 46 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns in his nine appearances.
