Crosby suffers lower-body injury vs. Blackhawks

Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby suffered a lower-body injury in the third period of Saturday's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Crosby got tangled up with Blackhawks defenseman Erik Gustafsson along the end boards and later blocked a hard shot before exiting the game.

The 32-year-old was being evaluated following the game and the team will update his status Monday, head coach Mike Sullivan said. The Penguins' next contest is Tuesday against the New York Rangers.

Crosby entered Saturday's action with a team-leading 17 points in 17 games this season.

Pittsburgh has battled injuries all season. Key forwards Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, and Nick Bjugstad all recently returned to the fold.
