The New York Giants will forge ahead with the status quo after a disappointing loss to the New York Jets on Sunday dropped the NFC East team to 2-8.

Entering New York's bye week, head coach Pat Shurmur said Monday that he won't be making any moves with his staff.

"I'm not going to make any coaching changes," said Shurmur, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ.com. "It's important that we coach and play better, period."

The Giants started the season 2-2 but have dropped the last six straight games in Shurmur's second year at the helm. As a rookie head coach, the 54-year-old went 5-11.

Asked about his own job security, Shurmur refused to say if he's discussed his future with either co-owner John Mara or general manager Dave Gettleman.

"This is the second time you're asking that question in 24 hours," Shurmur replied. "If I would have had that conversation, it's obviously not something I would share publicly."

New York has struggled on both sides of the ball, ranking 27th in total defense and 24th in total offense.

After their bye, the Giants will go on the road to face the Chicago Bears.
