New comer to this site

Hi there,
I am new here, but not quite new on GNU/Linux given that I started using it around 2001 and have been using it as my only OS since 2006. I use Slackware on my machines at home and Debian on a personal server.
I am an amateur developer, occasionally contributing to some free software projects and also working on a few pet projects of my own. My real job though is completely unrelated to IT: I am a researcher in life sciences (not even in bioinformatics).
Looking forward to discussing with the community here.
