Report: NFL optimistic Garrett won't be suspended to start next season
Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett has been suspended for the remainder of this season and the postseason, but the NFL is hopeful and optimistic he won't miss any games next season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Garrett was handed an indefinite suspension for striking Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the head with a helmet. Garrett appealed the ban, hoping to get a concrete date in which the suspension would be lifted. Though the appeal was denied, the Browns' defensive star could be back in action for the start of the 2020 campaign.
Garrett has been mandated to meet with the commissioner's office in the offseason and as long as the league approves of his behavior, there's a strong chance he won't miss any games next season, Schefter adds.
In addition to the suspension, Garrett was fined $45,263 for his role in the Week 11 brawl.
