Clean booting Ubuntu on Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1JM

HELP! Following a Hard drive failure, I am attempting a clean install of Ubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1JM with a new Hard drive, Ubuntu preinstalled, and which has been checked as OK on another computer, but have been unable to get past the Windows system installed on the Toshiba, which continually tries repairing the previous Windows 10 O/S.
I have tried accessing the BIOS to change settings, but have so far been unsuccessful in getting into it,
I do not normally work on Toshiba laptops, ( this is the first) and not familiar with their architecture, so any help would be appreciated, as I do not intend re- installing Windows products if it can be avoided. Thanks.
