Julio inactive for Thanksgiving matchup vs. Saints
Atlanta Falcons star receiver Julio Jones won't play against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night after his status was a game-time call due to an AC joint sprain, the team announced.
The Falcons were reportedly optimistic about Jones suiting up despite the shoulder injury, but it appears the club is being cautious with its franchise player on a short week, and with Atlanta's playoff hopes done.
It will be Jones' first missed game this season. He's recorded 64 catches for 950 yards and four touchdowns in 11 contests.
With the All-Pro sidelined, the Falcons' passing attack will go through second-year receiver Calvin Ridley, and fellow sophomore Russell Gage will likely see an expanded role.
The Falcons will get an offensive boost with Devonta Freeman active after missing the last two games due to a foot injury.
