Lane Johnson has agreed to a four-year, $72-million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history based on average annual value, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.

At $18 million annually, Johnson eclipsed the $16.5 million per season that Trent Brown secured from the Oakland Raiders last offseason.

The deal reportedly guarantees the Pro Bowl right tackle $54.595 million, which is also a record for an offensive lineman.

Johnson is in the middle of another excellent season despite missing Week 12 with a head injury. He's expected to clear concussion protocol and return to the lineup Sunday when Philadelphia faces the Miami Dolphins.

The 29-year-old has been one of the game's top tackles since the Eagles drafted him fourth overall in 2013. Johnson made back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2017 and 2018.
