SBo dwm-6.2 with systray patch is bugged
by FlinchX from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4W3WK)
I have been using dwm-6.1 until very recently (had no reasons to upgrade, because it worked perfectly), but a couple of days ago I have finally switched to dwm-6.2 and now systray (provided by a patch) stopped working correctly:
- sometimes apps (namely pidgin) randomly display the wrong icon in the tray (connecting one instead of online one)
- systray randomly stops displaying tray icons at all, it becomes a black area, so I miss notifications from programs like instant messengers. Sometimes (again, randomly) this gets fixed by itself whenever I launch another program that adds one more icon to the tray, so the whole tray area gets redrawn and I see all tray icons again (but not always).
I couldn't find anything related in the public dwm mailing list archives, so it probably makes sense to ask here before making more fuss about it anywhere else.
Is any of you slackers experiencing the same issues while using dwm-6.2 with systray?
PS: I would be happy to switch to vanilla dwm-6.2 and just use a status bar that has built-in tray that works fine with a tiling wm like dwm, but I just don't know any:
- I'm a big fan of dzen2, but I am C-illiterate, so trying to add systray support to it by merging the systray patch from dwm-6.1 into it is not real
- polybar, which seems to be the most popular "modern" status bar, seems to have a lot of systray problems as well, judging by their github issue tracker
