Touchpad pointer frozen at login dialogue
by Chris Watts from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4W4DM)
My wife runs Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop.
It has been working fine until today. When she fired it up today, it got as far as the login dialogue but the touchpad pointer was frozen, so she couldn't enter her password. I tried a USB mouse and logged on successfully, but the touchpad still doesn't work. In Settings the touchpad is on. I tried switching it off and on again, but that didn't work. This model laptop doesn't, as far as I can see, have a key for disabling the touchpad (as my Acer does) so it couldn't be that she had pressed that by mistake.
Any other ideas?
