KVM Server - sources list not working

Hello, A friend of mine and I bought a Server (KVM Debian 9) and apt update etc ain't working.
Our host told us to add 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 to the resolv.conf/interfaces but we don't know as what we need to add it - as dns-nameserver or what option do we need to add it?
(Sorry for my bad english .-.)
My current interfaces looks as following:
Code:auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto ens18
iface ens18 inet static
address X.X.X.X
netmask X.X.X.X
gateway X.X.X.X
